Applications Now Open for TSBC Community Grant Program 2025
The TSBC Community Grant Program is pleased to announce that applications for its 2025 cycle are now open. Since its inception, the program has proudly supported 349 projects in over 90 communities in BC, awarding over $6 million to create accessible, inclusive, and safe spaces. From Sparwood to Prince Rupert and from Victoria to Fort St. John, the grant projects are benefiting communities all across BC.
Supporting Community Spaces with BC Recycled Tires
The TSBC Community Grant Program funds projects that transform community spaces using products made from BC recycled tires. These surfacing solutions include pour-in-place surfaces, tiles, and other innovative materials, which promote safety, durability, and tire recyclability. Eligible projects span a range of community enhancements, including:
- Playgrounds
- Water parks
- Fitness areas
- Walkways
- Running tracks
Application Details
Applications will close on February 14, 2025. This program is available to not-for-profit organizations in BC, including municipalities, registered non-profit community groups, schools, colleges, universities, and First Nations and Métis settlements. Grants are provided on a matching funds basis. This means applicants must contribute an amount equal to or greater than the requested grant, up to a maximum of $30,000 (including freight and installation costs). To be eligible, projects must be fully accessible to the public, including wheelchair access. Additionally, the projects must use products made in BC from BC scrap tires, with a written warranty. Please note that completed projects are not eligible for funding.
Success Stories from 2024
Recipients of the 2024 TSBC Community Grant Program include the accessible playground surface at Maven Lane in Vernon, built with 1,009 BC recycled car tires. This project was in support of their goal to strive to become a 100% accessible and inclusive facility. Another recipient is Lynn Valley Elementary School in North Vancouver, where a new playground was constructed with 1,650 BC recycled car tires. Additionally, in Burnaby, the playground at Lobley Park was renovated with 2,114 BC recycled car tires, replacing the old surface.
