In the quest to bolster education and environmental awareness among educators and students across BC, Tire Stewardship BC found a natural ally in Sea Smart. Renowned for its dynamic educational programs centred around pressing ocean issues, Sea Smart empowers youth, businesses, teachers, and communities to instigate positive change worldwide. Recognizing the potential of this collaboration, a partnership between the two organizations emerged as an exciting opportunity.

To commemorate Earth Day, Tire Stewardship BC and Sea Smart have joined forces to launch a giveaway: the Clean Water Champions program. This competition invites all Primary School Teachers (K-7) in Metro Vancouver to participate. The lucky winner will receive a complimentary Clean Water Champions program for themselves and another teacher of their choice.

About the Clean Water Champions Program

The program delves into the intricate connections between freshwater systems and oceans, enlightening students about the impacts of human habits on water quality. Empowered to combat plastic pollution, participants will explore recycling practices and their environmental significance.

Throughout the program, students will collaborate in groups to devise stewardship projects aimed at raising awareness and fostering environmental care within their schools and communities.

Giveaway Details

• Drawing period: April 22 – May 10, 2024
• Open to Primary School Teachers (K-7) in Metro Vancouver
• Entrants must complete the form on the Sea Smart website
• The winner will receive a free Clean Water Champions program for themselves and one additional teacher (maximum 2 classes, 60 students total)
• Program includes three, one-hour workshops held on the same day, requiring a total of 3.5 hours of class time (including setup and takedown)
• Scheduled for the first two weeks of June, 2024, with available dates from June 5 – 6, and June 10 – 13
• The competition closes on May 10, 2024, at 11:59 PM, and the winner will be announced by May 17, 2024
